Dissent.
While I’m loathe to pigeonhole, humanity can be broadly broken into two categories:
1 — Those who love carols.
2 — Those who don’t.
At Everyday Massive, I work almost exclusively with the former.
Every year, come mid-November, Bing begins crooning from the stereo and Mariah returns to the playlist after a 10-month hiatus. We arrive at work sweating as Winter Wonderland wafts out of the office, riding the tepid currents of air conditioning that cannot compete with the Australian summer. Jingle Bells jingle. Again. And again… And again.
While a few folks, including me, begin the holiday season quite partial to the odd festive tune, by the time we arrive at the end of December I feel an uncharitable ill-will toward Good King Wenceslas and the Little Drummer Boy. People, I implore you: there is no carol — nay, song! — worth hearing on loop for a month and a half. Even Feliz Navidad.
